Freedom Oil Service is owned and
operated by James and Jennifer Speer. We got the idea in 1997 at a new car
dealership and seeing people lined up every morning and getting shuffled to
work and back again . I thought there could or should be a better way. The oil change business has been the same
for over 100 years and I figured that there must be a better way! I sat down that day and put the idea on
paper and started planning. When I saw that the idea was feasible, I called
the Small Business Development Center. They began making sure that I would be
ready to overcome any obstacles that I would meet if I were to begin the business .
Then life got in the way and I put the plan away. Early in 2001 I was ready to do
“something different”. I pulled out the business plan that I had written a
few years before and it seemed too perfect to pass up! So we rewrote the plan
and ran the numbers and decided to check to see if we could make it work…. We
started by going door to door on the weekends and began asking people if we
opened this type of business if they would be interested in using it…. THEY
SAID HECK YEAH!!! We named the business... Freedom! Oil Service A couple of months later, we scraped
together all of the money we could and invested in a cargo trailer and
started July 17 with a Bang! Over
Three years later we are going stronger than ever thanks to our loyal clients
and friends. To show our gratitude and
appreciation, we support many organizations throughout the Brazos Valley
including Hospice, United Way, Red Cross, BCS Camber of Commerce, Still Creek
Ranch, and many, many more. |
